A first-month online business plan built around small experiments

By You Me and Money · November 1, 2026 · Original practical guide

Week one: define a person and a problem

Choose a small audience you can describe and a task they struggle with. Read existing questions and talk with people where appropriate. Record what they do today and where it becomes difficult. Write one sentence defining the useful outcome you could help them reach. Avoid choosing software before you know what you are trying to produce.

Week two: build a sample

Make a draft that demonstrates your idea: a short guide, a service example, or a product-comparison worksheet. Use tools you already know. Ask someone to try it without a detailed explanation. Record where they become confused and revise that part. Set a scope you can finish with the time you actually have.

Week three: publish a clear offer or resource

Explain who the work is for, what it includes, and its limitations. If you recommend a paid tool, distinguish seller information from your own testing and disclose affiliate links. If you collect enquiries, explain how contact details will be used. Make every next step clear and check that it works on a phone.

Week four: review the evidence

Review qualified enquiries, actual sales if any, expenses and time. Ask which activity helped visitors rather than simply which activity took the most effort. Choose one improvement for the next month. This is an action plan, not a promise that a project will make money within thirty days. Keep the spending ceiling independent of hoped-for revenue.
